HAs in the airport

Hi, this may sound like a dumb question, but I’m new to hearing aids. I’m going to be flying this august and I want to know whether or not my digital ITC aid will set off the airport metal detectors. Also wondering if the scanning equipment or magnetic equipment in general will screw up the hearing aid. I can’t afford to take that risk. Also, I don’t want the airport security to think I’ pulling some kind of funny business by acting unsure about it(who knows in today’s world)

Your comments would be really appreciated.

I've never had any problems with hearing aids setting off airport metal detectors or x-rays, either in my bag or in my ears. Security see people with hearing aids all the time, it's not bound to alarm them in any way.

Yeah, I've worn them since I was 6 and have never had a single problem with them on planes! Cell phones are more likely to set off the security alarm. ;)

I got stopped in a metal detector at a courthouse once. My hearing aids tend to interfere with things like that.

This doesn't really answer your question, but it's related.

I've been told in the past that people with hearing impairment are not allowed to sit in the emergency exit seats, and must inform the airline that they are hearing impaired. I've done this in the past, and a couple of times they end up moving me to first class so they don't have to worry about regular seating.

I gotta remember that trick!

Actually, if you are able to hear well with a hearing aid, youre fine with the exit row. They actually say as much.

When those engines are on I can't hear anything.
I've given up on the headsets they hand out. The quality is such shit, that by the time it's loud enough it's completely distorted.

my dad has also done this a few times with the same result (first class seating)

Must try this. I keep getting the exit row and I don't like not getting a proper table (I manage to swap with someone who wants the legroom).
Haven't wangled an upgrade since I was an unaccompanied minor. :(

Never set off a metal detector. And I've slept through takeoffs and landings with them turned on and the plane didn't crash.

lol -- my friend joked to me about that because she was unsure of what happens if hearing aids would do anything on the plane..

that's funny. :)
